Rogillio, Webb & Manne shine at Louisiana Cup

BATON ROUGE, La.--The Country Club of Louisiana is known for being one of the most beautiful and one of the most challenging golf courses in the state.  That reputation earned the Jack Nicklaus-designed course recognition by Golf Digest, who ranked the course as the number-one facility in Louisiana.
B. J. Rogillio and Holden Webb conquered that course during the Mizuno USSSA Louisiana Cup, mastering it in a fashion that would make the “Golden Bear” proud.
Rogillio dominated in the Boys 15-18 event, playing a stellar second round at his home course to win the senior division championship.  Rogillio, of Baton Rouge, shot a 69 in that final round, recording four birdies and an eagle to finish the tournament at -1 (143).  Johnathon Ellis, also of Baton Rouge, took second place with a score of 151.  Tanner McKenzie, of Franklinton, finished in third place by shooting 161.
Meanwhile, Webb was steady and consistent in the Boys 12-14 event.  Webb, of Shreveport, shot an even 144 to win the title in the intermediate division, besting runner-up Jace LeJeune, of Jennings, by six shots.  Luke Haskew, of Baton Rouge, played an outstanding second round to leapfrog two other competitors and claim third place with a total of 151.
Alston Manne, the son of CCLA’s head pro, took home top honors in the Boys 9-11.  Manne, of Baton Rouge, recorded 13 pars in the 18-hole event, winning the beginner’s division title with a score of 79.  Henson Sharpe, an eight-year-old from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, finished in second place in his USSSA Tour debut, shooting 89.  Christopher Cain, of Lafayette, finished in third place with a total of 93.
Sophia Macias, of Denham Springs, won the Girls 9-11 event by shooting 115.
The Mizuno USSSA Louisiana Tour will experience a first at its next event.  The Back-2-School 4-Ball event will be the first-ever team event hosted by the organization.  Individual honors will also be awarded.  Back-2-School will take place September 16-17 at Les Vieux Chênes in Youngsville.  To register or find more information, visit
