Note (2012 Slowpitch Only): 25 bonus points are awarded per tournament for teams paying for their entry using the USSSA online system.

Power Rating System

The formula was designed/prepared in 1998 by Kelly Burke. 
The system was designed to fairly rank teams (of the same class) that have not played
the same number of games.

The exact formula will not be disclosed in fear of a competitors copying or misuse.

Can my teams power rating change even if my team is not active?

Yes, anytime results are entered for any team you have faced,
(in your class) your teams power rating will change.

NATIONAL RANKING SYSTEM FACTS

One of the Major National Team Ranking Systems in the United States.
Includes all classifications of sports within the USSSA.
One of the few, if not the only, that is based entirely on participation supported by documents.
Has become a major vehicle in creating interest and participation in the USSSA program.
Has become the goal of thousands of players, managers, and sponsors to be ranked on a state, divisional or national basis.

USSSA National Team Ranking System Included

Top finishers in USSSA sanctioned tournaments.
All USSSA statistics are calculated by the ISTS System.
Results can be entered directly into the ISTS System by tournament directors or the National Office.
Only USSSA Registered teams.

Does Not Include

Any other organization's programs
High scores or home runs mean nothing.
Big team budgets or politics mean nothing.

The ranking system is based entirely on fact and is well respected across the nation as the granddaddy of all ranking systems. I am sure that many of you have questioned how the system works. At the top of this page there are certain criteria defining the system and showing the breakdown of points awarded to the teams. State tournaments receive the same points as National Tournaments and points have been added to the World Series and World Tournaments and to NIT�s. I believe that this will be very valuable to you during the coming season should you have any questions concerning the ranking system.
