JULY 23-30,
2006
Congratulations
on an outstanding season and welcome to
the 2006 USSSA Baseball World Series. Your tournament host will be USSSA
Baseball and Osceola County Stadium (Spring Training Home of the Houston
Astros) and it will be our goal to create an experience that the players,
coaches and families will remember for the rest of their lives. The World Series
will be played at Osceola County Stadium Complex, Gateway High School, St Cloud
High School and Steinback Field.
The USSSA
Baseball Program will use the "Pool-Play" format in its World Series. Teams will be placed in pools where they
will play 2 to 3 pool play games. Teams will then be placed in a Championship
(double elimination) bracket following pool play or a consolation (single
elimination) bracket. The exact
format of the tournament, e.g., number of pools, number of teams in each pool,
etc., will be set by the Tournament Director following USSSA Baseball guidelines
as approved by the USSSA Baseball National Committee.
ENTRY: All entry information must be RECEIVED BY YOUR STATE DIRECTOR and USSSA National Headquarters on or before THURSDAY, JULY 13th.
Please send the following information to your STATE DIRECTOR: (JULY 13th)
Please send the following information to the USSSA National Office: (JULY 13th)
USSSA National Office
Attn: 15U Baseball WS
611 Line Drive
Kissimmee, FL 34744
RULES OF PLAY:
2006 Official Major League Baseball Rules as published by the Sporting News, except where modified (See 2006 USSSA Baseball Handbook).
There will be no games ending in a tie. Games will be played until there is a winner. Time limits on games may be imposed.
ON-SITE CHECK-IN:
On SUNDAY, JULY 23rd all teams must officially check in from 1pm – 5pm. Each team will be assigned a specific registration time 1 week prior to check-in. Check-in will be held at Osceola Stadium located in Osceola’s Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida.
631 Heritage Park Way, Kissimmee, FL 34744, http://www.ohpark.com/
A coach or team rep must be present at check in with all required materials. Please have all copies of all forms including birth certificates, most current grade card (if needed), roster, etc submitted with your entry.
COMPETITION: Monday, July 24-Sunday, July 30
PLAYER AGE:
In the 15U/Freshman Division, a player that DOES NOT reach the age of 16 prior to
May 1st is eligible to participate OR a player that DOES NOT reach the age of 17 before May 1st and was enrolled in the 9th grade the previous school semester is eligible to participate.
PLAYER ROSTERS:
Rosters are limited to a maximum of 20 players. The cut off date for adding player shall be found in the 2006 USSSA Baseball Handbook. All rosters must be approved/signed by the appropriate state director.
COACHES:
Each team is entitled to maximum of 3 bench personnel. Each team is responsible to provide a designated representative to assist in keeping the scorebook, pitching or scoreboard (if applicable). This must be an adult who will conduct themselves in a professional manner. This team representative will receive a pass for the duration of the tournament.
COACHES ATTIRE:
Coaches do not need to be in full uniform, but should be in appropriate matching athletic attire, consistent with the team uniform (such as collared shirts and coaches shorts with athletic shoes).
COACHES MEETING:
Sunday, July 23rd, 6pm
Will be held at Osceola County Stadium, the location has yet to be determined, but will be made available at team check-in.
AWARDS:
Team Trophies and individual awards will be awarded to the top 4 teams in the championship bracket and the top 2 teams in the consolation bracket.
CEREMONIES:
This event will not have an opening ceremony. We have found in the past that the teams would prefer to utilize their “free” time visiting area attractions, such as theme parks, water parks, air boat rides, etc…
The USSSA National Office has discounted attraction tickets available (Disney/Universal). You may contact Stephanie, Stephanie@usssa.com or 800-741-3014, for more information.
PROTESTS:
Protests must be made verbally with the umpire by the offended team at the time of the play and before the next pitch. A fee of $100 cash (refunded if upheld) must accompany the protest. All decisions of the protest committee shall be final. Only decisions involving the misinterpretation or misapplication of a rule may be protested. No protest shall be allowed in matters involving solely the officials’ judgment.
RULES OF CONDUCT:
It is the purpose of the Unites States Specialty Sports Association to conduct the best possible tournaments from all aspects. To achieve this objective, USSSA must have the cooperation of each player, manager, coach and sponsor.
Therefore, it is required that all teams in the tournament comply with the following rules:
· Team managers must have full control of their players at all times. This means "on" and "off" the field.
· In case of disputed play or decision, team managers or captains may consult the game officials. The other players and coaches or sponsors are to be kept out of the discussion.
· Managers, coaches, and players are not to fraternize with spectators while participating in an event. At no time will any participant be allowed to smoke while participating in any USSSA event.
· At no time will participants be allowed to drink alcoholic beverages nor have in their possession any alcoholic beverage while participating in any USSSA event.
· Managers are to report any unsportsmanlike or derogatory acts by players or spectators to the Tournament Director. The purpose here is to prevent any serious situation developing that would be harmful to the tournament.
· Managers, coaches, players, sponsors, and teams may be suspended by the Tournament Director for violation of any of these rules. This could mean suspension for one or more tournament games, the duration of the tournament, or in the most extreme cases, a longer duration.
· A player, coach, manager or sponsor may be suspended for fighting, abusive tactics, or unbecoming acts that are detrimental and not in the best interest of the United States Specialty Sports Association and tournament play.
· The hotels hosting tournament teams will report any occurrence of destruction of property or abuse of hotel property attributed to a team staying in the hotel. All reports from the hotels will be dealt with very sternly. Team managers please note that this is your only notice. Also, failure to pay hotel bills can result in team and its manager being disbarred from future USSSA play.
· Any teams submitting bad checks to USSSA will be subject to disbarment.
